Wow here I am starting my own blog after reading so many inspiring stories online I am doing it for myself!
Like many of the blogs I've read I want to work for myself. I want to make & sell nice things. These nice things come in the form of furniture items.
I have been messing about with furniture pieces since I bought my first place a few years back. I have never wanted to fit in with the norm and this goes for where I live too. I can't think of anything worse than having the same style room as someone else. I may take ideas & tweak them but never copy entirely in style, the thought makes me sad!
So after much messing about with paint, varnish, wax etc in my own little world, I have now been doing a furniture design & upholstery course with a highly skilled teacher in the industry. Kindly given to me as a gift by my sister to encourage me in my dreams to do what I love, for this I am extremely grateful. It was one of those things I wanted to do but who knows if I would have, it may have fell by the wayside amongst bills to be paid & holidays to be planned!
Anyhoo, I love it! I am doing projects left right and centre and could not be happier. Now. The next step.
I want to sell these little beauties!
Hold up, what is it I'm doing exactly?? Well. I source, from places all over, beautiful items of furniture which may be broken, tired or dare I say it, not very pretty, and give them a new lease of life. I may do this through painting & upholstering or I may take a few items to pieces & combine them to create something completely different & unique! I have some other ideas I'm not quite ready to share yet but do watch this space, it will be worth it!
As I said I'm now ready to get my creations & my name out there but where to start?? I'm hoping this is where the blogging craft community can help! I have some ideas to get out there at local events but how do I make my blog work for me? Any & every suggestion or tip around starting up, self employment, blogging, website.. anything! will be so helpful & much appreciated :)
